Organizational cultures fall into three categories:
- Pathological/power-oriented: fear & threats. People hoard information for political reasons or lie about it to look better
- Bureaucratic/rule-oriented: care more about political fiefdoms and doing things “right” (according to them, even if to the detriment to the mission)
- Generative/performance-oriented. Focused on the mission. Everything is subordinated to good performance
Which is to say, as you go down the list, information flows more freely and more in line with the goal.. so they should achieve better outcomes.
